Marsh Fire
$80.00
5x7 oil on wood in reclaimed frame
There’s a color that appears at a certain time of day on the Georgia coast. It’s not orange, it’s not gold. It’s not really yellow. I call it marsh fire.
The world is lit up as if on fire.
The sun is setting, the birds are heading to nest.
This ‘fire” almost blinds you for the few moments it appears. In that instant the world seems to be working just as planned.
And then the sun sets lower in the western sky,and the fire is just a fleeting memory.
You find yourself thankful for the passing of the Coastal Marshlands Protection Act. You recognize it would’ve never happened in these times.
